Jeremy and Dallas are a K-9 team that works together to prevent arsons across the state of Maine and the United States. Dallas is a 2 year old yellow lab and is a Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF) K-9 assigned to the State Fire Marshals Office.

About the event

Investigator Jeremy Damren will visit the Hub with his K-9 partner Dallas. Jeremy and K-9 Dallas will provide a K-9 demonstration showing what Dallas is most talented for…..finding ignitable liquids! Jeremy & Dallas work for the Maine Fire Marshall Service. Investigator Damren will be giving a demonstration of his dogs abilities and will talk to kids about what it's like to work with his dog, as well as how his dog assists him in his role as an Investigator with the State Fire Marshall's Investigation Division.


The Division uses trained detections dogs. These dogs are trained to notify the investigator when they smell accelerants that they are trained to detect. They must be able to "scent-discriminate" at a fire scene by ignoring all of the other smells at the scene, and alert the investigator if they smell the substances they are looking for.
